A series of nude water color studies signed by Kuroda Seiki are for sale on Ebay.
He was active in the early twentieth century as a painter and teacher who brought western theories of art to Japan. When he was 20 years old in 1886 he traveled to France to study and discovered plein-air painting. He returned to Japan in 1893 determined to end the Japanese aversion to figure painting.
