From Wikipedia:

Antonio Berti (San Piero a Sieve, 1904 - Sesto Fiorentino, 1990) was an Italian sculptor.
He was born of modest family of farmers and shepherds. Enthusiastic about the many works of art in nearby Florence, at age 17 won a place at the Richard Ginori where he could devote to the design of the products of that industry porcelain.
The writer Ugo Ojetti, who had had the opportunity to see some of his work in clay, Angiolo advised his father to enroll at the Art Institute Santa Croce in Florence. From here began the career of Berti with the first appearances at the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadrennial.
